ABSTRACT

The Covid-19 Pandemic (C19P) situation of the entire world now affects all fields in terms of Excellencies and let to suffer drastically from normal functioning. The whole world is now concentrating on the protection from the C19 virus in the form of vaccination (C19V) and social distancing (SD). There is a kind enough need arises to maintain the hygiene environment during and after the post C19P situations, and this IoT e-Environment Pollution Monitoring and Controlling System (IEE-PMCS) with 3 parameters (air, water, sound) resolves and addresses the issues in the hygiene maintenance of various environments as common. In the IEE-PMCS proposed work, the 3 measuring parameters and their real-time and current values are percept with the appropriate sensors of IoT elements, and the data are collected and stored on a cloud and are verified with the predefined threshold values of pollution measures with included tolerance values of permissible values to indicate if there is any cause of the pollution on the real-time perceptions. The verification and decision-making of the system is reliable on the new algorithms proposed in this work. This work is based on system modeling and providing an efficient architecture to the maximum extent of the intended purpose, with a detailed description of the flow of operations and with the algorithmic level. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Air pollution is major environmental issue facing around the world. Covid-19 the pandemic which smashed all the socio-economic development of the countries also have an impact on human activities in all fields. The drastic reduction in transportation due to lockdown to control the spread of virus reduced the emission of toxic pollutants from vehicles. The air quality analysis studies indicated an increase in quality in post-covid lockdown period. Plants are always exposed to air pollution and they cope with increasing air pollution in various ways. Air pollution tolerance analyses were always performed to assess the tolerance and susceptibility of plants to air pollution. Large scale planting of tolerant plants in urban areas for creating green belts and reducing air pollution is a common practice. In the present scenario a comparative evaluation of air pollution tolerance index of plant was performed by comparing the tolerance index in pre and post-covid lockdown period. A reduction in tolerance index can be significantly correlated with reduction in air pollution after the lockdown period. © 2022 Authors. All rights reserved.

ABSTRACT

The objective of this study is to investigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and stock market psychology on investor investment decisions in different business units operating in the Shandong stock market. The sample size of the study consists of 5,000 individuals from six different business units. The study used the event study statistical technique to analyze the market reaction to newly released information from the stock market perspective to assess whether the number of COVID-19 positive cases impacted it. With a Z score value of 40.345 and a P-value of 0.000, the Wilcoxon test indicated that stock prices before and after the pandemic were quite different. The test showed a positive relationship between the pandemic and the stock market. Further, the results indicated that COVID-19 and stock market psychology had a significant positive impact on investor investment decisions in cosmetic and beauty, consumer household, textiles and apparel, and consumer electronics industries; however, in the sporting and consumer appliance industries, it had an insignificant negative impact. This study serves to guide investors to make suitable changes in their stock market trading practices to counter these challenges to increase their required rate of return from their specific stock market investment. The findings have important insights for various stakeholders including governments, regulatory bodies, practitioners, academia, industry, and researchers.

ABSTRACT

Pandemic COVID-19 has disrupted the learning practices in primary, secondary and higher educational institutions. During this era, academic institutions started online and virtual learning opportunities to continue academic practices without trouble. Therefore, this study explores the effects of pre-COVID-19 and post-COVID-19 threats on e-learning opportunities in King Saudi Arabian Universities. For this purpose, the data collected at two stages by conducting two surveys. The first was conducted at the end of 2019, and the second was conducted at the beginning of 2022 to test the difference in technology usage in e-learning. The survey received a total of 465 responses. The Smart PLS-SEM software tool used to test the proposed hypotheses using multi- group analysis (MGA). We applied the Unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) to assess the difference between two pandemic situations. The study reported that performance expectancy and facilitating conditions in post-COVID-19 situations significantly differed from pre-COVID-19. It means there was a rise in technology usage in the post-COVID- 19 situation. On the other hand, effort expectancy, social influence, hedonic motivation and behavioral intentions were slightly different post-COVID-19 from pre-COVID-19. In addition, this study will look at the managerial implications and future directions of Information Systems and Education. © ISECON 2022. All Rights Reserved.

ABSTRACT

Background: COVID-19 presented a unique scenario among children, specifically all over the world. The children had decrease outdoors activities and learning times, increased use of electronic gadgets and changes in sleep patterns. These altered behavior patterns of children directly influenced their behavior in the dental operatory. This coupled with the stringent protocols of COVID-19, made the behavior management of children a tedious task. However, as they say that necessity is the mother of all inventions, the pediatric dentist took this time to evaluate newer methods of behavior management and modified old strategies with newer modifications. Aim: The main aim of this study was to observe the modifications in behavior management strategies among pediatric dentists in the post-COVID-19 era while managing the child in dental operatory. Materials and Methods: Four hundred pediatric dentists were mailed a questionnaire consisting of 24 open and closed-ended questions consisting of personal data, professional information, and questions regarding various behavior management techniques used by them in pre- and post-COVID-19 era. Data obtained were subjected to statistical analysis using SPSS version 26.0, IBM, and a comparison of frequencies of categories of variables with groups was made using Chi-Square test and McNemar test. Results: The results showed that there were statistically highly significant changes in behavior management strategies pre- and post-COVID-19 scenario with P < 0.01. Conclusion: Conventional techniques like Tell-Show-Do were popular in both pre- and post-COVID-19 times with minor modifications in approach, but conscious sedation and distraction techniques were evaluated to have gained more popularity in the post-COVID-19 times along with exploration of new novel techniques.

ABSTRACT

Purpose The overall purpose of this empirically validated research paper is to determine factors that impact the success of using social media channels by consumers for salvaging health-care information by integrating constructs of the information system (IS) success model, e-health service quality and perceived usefulness during pre- and post-COVID settings. Design/methodology/approach Online survey responses of 243 consumers for study 1 and 184 consumers for study 2 were validated using factor analysis to understand consumers' attitudes toward social media use. Constructs from existing literature and theories have been extracted to develop the proposed model, which has been empirically validated through statistical tests. A paired-samples t-test was also conducted to compare the customer satisfaction mean of pre- and post-COVID conditions;and word of mouth (WOM) for pre- and post-COVID conditions. Findings The outcome of this study supports that service quality and information quality conclusively influence customer satisfaction of consumers for health-care information among respondents pre COVID, and service quality, perceived usefulness and information quality conclusively affect customer satisfaction of consumers for health-care information among respondents post COVID. Furthermore, the e-health service quality contributes noteworthy in shaping the consumers' satisfaction with social media usage for study 2 and information quality for study 1. A paired-samples t-test revealed that the two groups behaved significantly differently for customer satisfaction and WOM in the two groups. Research limitations/implications At prima facie, this study has a geographical limitation for the sample size. The respondents for the online research were from the urban suburb of Bengaluru, India. The data collection has not focused on any precise social media channel. Practical implications Identification and comprehension of constructs that influence consumer satisfaction related to social media usage for health-care information can assist health-care managers in developing appropriate strategies for consumers to maximize social media usage. Moreover, this study provides an insight into the consumer's perception of using social media channels for seeking health-care information. Originality/value This study recommends an empirically validated model for the success of social media in a consumer setting for the health-care scenario. This research is a unique attempt that inspects social media satisfaction by adapting constructs from existing theories of the IS success model, e-health service quality and perceived usefulness.

ABSTRACT

Although universities attempted to provide as little disruption to student learning as possible, problems arose with their responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. The current literature is rich with studies reporting experiences with the transition to the virtual learning of the pandemic era. In pursuit of the most effective learning and instructional modes to transition to in times of crisis, university administrators and faculty members need to know more regarding what worked and did not work in the initial response to the COVID-19 crisis. Questions remain. Given the pre-COVID-19 dominance of face-to-face instruction did student opinion of online learning change based on their experiences with the mandated transitions to virtual learning? Are the perceptions different for students at private versus public and small versus large institutions? This paper reports the results of an exploratory study of these bifurcations based on an online survey of student opinion conducted in Spring 2021. The findings provide some insight to student perceptions of the efficacy of the changed learning environment experienced by the subject populations. © 2022, North American Business Press.
